BACK IN ACTION!

January 2 , 2021

Happy New Year! It's your friendly neighbourhood boat builders letting y'all know we are still alive and still charging away on our boat! COVID has sure flipped the world upside down for everybody, but like we've said before we are lucky to have this project to keep us busy - always something to do on a boat this big!

During the quarantine times of the spring and early summer we were able to get into a groove in the shop - sawdust was flying and things really started to come together! With that being said, it was clear we were too busy building to make time for blogging, and before we knew it we were gone for the summer working. The fishing lodge decided against opening for the season, but I was fortunate to be able to work with the same mineral exploration consultancy that Eric works for, Equity Exploration, and we both spent the summer working on a helicopter-supported drilling campaign for Scottie Resources Corp. at their project in and around the past-producing Scottie Gold Mine, north of Stewart, BC.

Eric also had the opportunity to spend two weeks on an archaeological expedition led by his brother and Gitga'at Nation that took them two days by boat out of Prince Rupert to a remote group of coastal islands. These islands were some of the first to be deglaciated after the last ice age, and therefore could host some of the oldest archaeological sites on the coast. Eric left the Dipper in Prince Rupert after the archaeology expedition and was able to use it for some north coast exploration between work shifts.

After work was done for me in the fall I was able to sneak out on a few good adventures which included a 5 day hike on Nootka Island off the west coast of Vancouver Island, and a week long stint floating rivers in northern BC looking for anadromous fish.

So that's where we've been for the last 6 months! We've been back in the shop since early November and it feels oh so good! We are excited to get the blog rolling again and share the progress we've made. There is a lot to catch up on, but we are going to try our hardest to keep the updates flowing and the people in the loop. Look forward to a new blog post coming down the pipe real soon!

Happy New Year from the Building Burnett crew!
